Description	:	Svanaug Olson was born in Tinn Telemarken, Norway, August 21st, 1846. On June 9, 1870 she came to America with her mother, and settled in Stoughton, Wis., and in the spring of 1872 came to Lincoln County. On July 19, 1873 she was united in marriage to Mr. Ole Torberson, and lived on the farm in Canton Township. In August of 1908 Mr. Torberson passed away and four years later Mrs. Torberson moved to Canton, where she has since resided. She was the oldest living charter member of the Grand Valley Church Ladies Aid, and on... Read More	Svanaug Olson was born in Tinn Telemarken, Norway, August 21st, 1846. On June 9, 1870 she came to America with her mother, and settled in Stoughton, Wis., and in the spring of 1872 came to Lincoln County. On July 19, 1873 she was united in marriage to Mr. Ole Torberson, and lived on the farm in Canton Township. In August of 1908 Mr. Torberson passed away and four years later Mrs. Torberson moved to Canton, where she has since resided. She was the oldest living charter member of the Grand Valley Church Ladies Aid, and on Thanksgiving Day a gala event was held in her honor, which she attended seemingly in her usual health and in which she took so much pride and pleasure. She leaves to mourn her death, three sons and three daughters: Theodore of Beresford, Bernard of Canton; Christian of Billings, Mont,; and Mrs. P.B. Brekke and Miss Belle Torberson of Canton. One daughter, Olene, passed away May 11th, 1901. Funeral services were held Sunday at one-thirty at the Lutheran Church. Rev. Nervig officiating and interment was at Grand Valley cemetery where Mr. Torberson was buried. For more family history see Ole's memorial.
