Thelen, 49, well-known farmer, died of a heart attack about 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home seven miles north of Carroll. He had been slightly ill during the day, his death occurring unexpectedly. Funeral services are to be at 9:30 Thursday morning at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church. The requiem mass will be read by the Rev. Father Peter M. Sturm. Burial will be in SS. Peter and Paul's cemetery. The body was returned at 3 o'clock this afternoon from the Glcerich Funeral home to the family residence, where the rosary will be prayed at 8 o'clock tonight and tomorrow night, led by the Rev. Father Sturm. Mr. Thelen, son of the late John F. and Mary Thelen, was born April 12, 1897, in Sac county, Iowa. In his boyhood, the family moved to Nebraska. After a two-year residence there, they came to Carroll county. Mr. Thelen was married February 1, 1921, to Miss Mathilda Neuerberg of Carroll at SS. Peter and Oayk's church here by the Rev. Father Forester. They have lived in their present home north of Carroll since their marriage. Besides his wife, Mr. Thelen leaves 11 children: Mrs. John F. Hoffmann (Linda), Carroll; Gerald, Marcille, Norman, Eugene, Sylvester, jr., Ralph, Norbert, Lawrence, Mary Ann and Lynette, at home. Three other children, Dorothy, Victor, and Melvin, died in infancy. Also surviving are three sisters and one brother: Mrs. John Daiker (Caroline), Auburn; Mrs. Ella Subbert, Lanesboro; Mrs. Lawrence Janning (Mildred), Kasson, Minn., and Raymond Thelen, Gildden. Mr. Theleln was a veteran of Word war 1. He belonged to Our Lady of Mount Carmel church and the Holy Name society of the parish.
