Ione Stookey Benway, daughter of Thomas and Catherine Stookey, was born near McComb, Ill., March 23, 1875. She came to Fillmore county with her parents, three sisters and three brothers when she was ten years old. She and Victor A. Benway were married at York, Neb., February 27, 1895, and they went to housekeeping on a farm near Fairmont. Read More	Mrs. Ione Benway passed away at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva Friday, July 10, 1970, at the age of 95. Ione Stookey Benway, daughter of Thomas and Catherine Stookey, was born near McComb, Ill., March 23, 1875. She came to Fillmore county with her parents, three sisters and three brothers when she was ten years old. She and Victor A. Benway were married at York, Neb., February 27, 1895, and they went to housekeeping on a farm near Fairmont. They were the parents of three children, Mrs. George Jensen and Floyd Benway, both deceased, and Mrs. C.W. Roback of Inland, Neb. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Federated Church of Fairmont and the Royal Neighbor Lodge of Fairmont. Funeral services were held at the United Church of Christ Monday morning, July 13, at 10:30 a.m., Rev. George Bartell of Sutton officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Roland R. Hall sang "God Be with You" and "Abide with Me." Mrs. Jerry Galusha was accompanist. Pallbearers were Reuben Ackerman, Sherman Ashby, Robert Bettger, Harry Kelch, Leslie Miles and George Thompson.
