Obituary
Miss Thelma Irene Hamilton, 68, of 209 N. Sophia Street, Homer, Michigan, was pronounced dead at the scene of an auto accident west of Homer, Wednesday afternoon abut 4:28.
Miss Hamilton was born July 16, 1901 in Homer Twp the daughter of William T. and Lean (Boyd) Hamilton.
She had spent her life in this area and moved into the village in 1916. She graduated from Homer High School in 1921, after which she was employed by the Calhoun County Telephone Co., owners.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Homer and Stella Chapter No. 140 O.E.S.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Homer and Stella Chapter No. 140 O.E.S.
Surviving are a brother, Amos G Hamilton of Homer. A brother Buel B Hamilton preceded her in death Sept 20, of this year.
Friends were received at the Tidd Funeral Home where services were held Saturday at 1:30 o'Clock with the Rev. Leroy Cabbage of Milan, formely of Homer Officiating.

Marshall (MI) Evening Chronicle Thursday, November 6, 1969 1 Dead, 3 Hurt In Wreck Near Homer Village ---Sixty-eight year-old Thelma Irene Hamilton, 209 N. Sophia in Homer, was killed instantly at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday when she was a passenger in an auto involved in a three-vehicle crash on M-60 west of Homer. ---Taken to Albion Community hospital by Marshall ambulance were Jessie Chapman, 76, of 205 W. Leigh, Homer; Marian Louise Bacon, 42, 408 W. Everett, Homer; and four-month-old Della Cockrell, a passenger in the auto driven by Marian Bacon. ---Mrs. Champan was later transferred to Ann Arbor where she is reported in poor condition, while Marion Bacon was treated and released from Albion Community with the child kept overnight for observation. ---State police in Tekonsha said that a pick-up truck driven by 54-year-old Owen Betz of Route 2, Marshall, was traveling west on M-60 near 20 Mile Road at about 25 m.p.h. when the care driven by Marian Bacon approached from the rear. ---The woman attempted to pass the truck, which was hauling a wagon filled in corn, and saw another auto approaching from the west. ---The Bacon car then swerved back into the westbound lane, striking the wagon hauled by the pick-up truck. The impact threw her car back into the passing lane where it collided with the oncoming auto carrying the two elderly women. ---Marian Bacon and the Cockrell child got out of the auto as it burst into flames, which were later extinguished by the Homer fire department. ---Miss Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene from head injuries. State troopers said the accident is still under investigation with no prosecution taken as yet. Thelma Hamilton's death boosted the county traffic death toll for the year to 38. ---The deceased was born July 16, 1901, in Homer township to William T. and Lena (Boyd) Hamilton. She spent her life in the Homer area, moving to the village in 1916, and graduating from Homer High School in 1921. ---She was employed by the Calhoun County Telephone company until it was sold to the present Calhoun Telephone company ownership. Miss Hamilton was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Homer and the Stella Chapter No. 140 O.E.S. ---Surving[sic] are a brother, Amos T. Hamilton of Homer and several nieces and nephews. Another brother, Buel B. Hamilton, preceded her in death September 20 of this year. ---Funeral arrangements are being handled through Westbrook-Tidd Funeral Home, Homer.
