Read More	Gazette-Times - May 25, 2011 Thelma Nona (Grove) Lamberton Feb. 3, 1914 — May 20, 2011 Thelma Nona Lamberton (Grove), 97, formerly of Corvallis, passed away Friday, May 20, 2011, in Salem. She was born on Feb. 3, 1914, in Endicott, Wash., to Justus Lawrence and Amelia (Schierman) Grove. Mrs. Lamberton is survived by her son, Jack, and his wife, Pam, of Raleigh, N.C.; sisters Vera Ruud and her husband, Lester, of Walla Walla, Wash., Evelyn Magnusen of East Wenatchee, Wash., and Roberta Schoepflin of Corvallis; grandchildren John Lamberton and his wife, Marta, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Linda Schaffner and her husband, Brian, of Salem; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lamberton was predeceased by her husband, John H. Lamberton. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in English and education from Walla Walla College (University) in 1950. Thelma was a loving mother and grandmother to her family. She had a real passion for children, not only in her own family, but the many students she taught and nurtured over 30 years in Oregon and Washington, in both elementary and high schools. She loved music, and was an accomplished pianist and organist. She enjoyed sharing her culinary talents with her younger family members and many of her students. She was well known for her cinnamon rolls and sugar bread. Thelma loved to travel, particularly when it was to spend time with her family. She was an avid bird-watcher, and many of her travels took her to well-known birding sites. Thelma was also known for her garden, and won awards in her community. She particularly enjoyed caring for her roses. Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Corvallis Seventh-day Adventist Church, 3160 S.W. Western Blvd. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the church. Interment is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, at the Locust Grove Cemetery in Brewster, Wash. SALEM - Funeral today at 2 PM at the Corvallis Seventh Day Adventist Church. Burial Friday 11 AM in the Locust Grove Cemetery Brewster, WA. Published in the Salem, Oregon Statesman Journal on May 25, 2011.
