Read More	HEDDEN, THEODORE FREDERICK—Theodore Frederick Hedden was born in Lyman on November 20, 1929 to Finis R. Hedden and Bertha Troutman Hedden. He passed away on Monday, April 8, 2002, at the York Geneva Hospital at the age of 72. He lived in Shickley during his early elementary years and later moved to Geneva, where he attended Geneva Public Schools, graduating from high school with the Class of 1947. He did various farm work in the community and when REA came to the area, he assisted his father in his electrical business and enjoyed associating with so many nice people, getting electricity into their farms. Ted was drafted into the Armed Services on January 11, 1952 and following basic training, spent most of his service time in Germany. He was honorably discharged on December 9, 1953 and returned home to Geneva. Ted like building. He built a house to sell, put up steel buildings in the community, and later built his own home in 1956. On March 3, 1956, Ted was married to Dawne Lorraine Galusha at the Methodist Church in Fairmont, and to them three children were born. He lived in the home he built for the rest of his life. In 1957, he started a fertilizer and chemical business in Fairmont. He later purchased Erisman Aerial Spraying and Jensen Spraying and spent nearly the rest of his lifetime working his business. Farming was also a big part of his life. Ted and Dawne took the time to travel and enjoyed many wonderful vacations with family and friends, these trips included trout fishing in Colorado, salmon fishing in Wisconsin and Alaska, skiing with his children and grandchildren, a wonderful vacation to Germany, where he got to see many of the places he had spent time in while in the service, and his last trip in February to Cabo San Lucas, where he enjoyed the wonderful warm weather and fishing with his family. He learned to fly his own airplane, built his own airboat, loved hunting, fishing, and for the last months of his life, spent time in his shop building trophy cases for several of his grandchildren, and many other items which will be cherished by is family. He was a member of the United Methodist Church for over 50 years, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War, of which he was commander for a term and the American Legion. He was also a past member of the Odd Fellows, Geneva Fire Department, Nebraska Aviation Trade Association and the Nebraska Fertilizer Institute where he served on the Board of Directors from 1986 to 1992. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who loved his family and friends unconditionally. He had a sense for what was right and wrong, and also a terrific sense of humor. He loved to visit and laugh with his coffee friends, even though it became more difficult for him after he lost his hearing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Finis and Bertha Hedden; brother, Ralph Hedden and by a nephew. He is survived by his wife, Dawne Lorraine; children, Mitchel Hedden and wife, Cheryl; Cheryl (Sheri) Hampton and husband, Bob; and Kristi McDonald and husband, Jerry; sister, Delores Sole and husband, Richard; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; and by many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at the United Methodist Church in Geneva on Thursday, April 11, with Rev. Brian Kottas officiating. Nancy Jo Galusha accompanied Karl Brinkman, who sang “Memories” and “On Eagle’s Wings.” A special music selection entitled “Green Day” was selected by Ted’s grandchildren. Casket bearers were Robert Ackland, Jay Burton, Scott DeLong, Norman Erisman, Darrel Hughes, Paul Jensen, Norval Lomax and Harold Stewart Jr. Interment with military honors provided by the Geneva American Legion and V.F.W. Honor Guard was held at the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal April 17th, 2002 page 9.
