After graduating from... Read More	HEDDEN, FINIS RALPH—Finis R. Hedden, the son of Theodore K. and Eva B. McBeth Hedden, was born near Shickley, Neb., September 11, 1895. He completed his earthly life July 17, 1951, at Shickley at the age of 55 years, 10 months and 6 days. He and Bertha Trautman were united in marriage at Hastings, April 6, 1927. Their home has been in the Shickley neighborhood, a few years in the Scottsbluff territory and for the past 15 years in Geneva, Neb. They were the parents of three children; Ralph, Ted and Dolores. After graduating from the Shickley high school, Mr. Hedden later studied electrical engineering at Oklahoma City, Okla., and at Toledo, O. On coming to Geneva, he was employed by Fillmore County, the United States Government at the air base northeast of the city, and for the past several years he had operated his own electrical business in Geneva. The Hedden family has been known throughout the community for participation in military service. Finis and his brothers Ronzo and Merritt served in the First World War. Earl was called and got as far as the depot when the contingent was turned back by the signing of the Armistice. Orve served in the Second World War. Not the son Ralph is with the United States Navy and located in Cuban waters. A leave permitted him to be at home for his father’s funeral. Finis was a charter member of Shickley American Legion. He was always an interested, active, willing, and loyal supporter of the affairs of the organization. The immediate surviving relatives are his wife, Bertha; Ralph and his wife Marcia; Ted and Dolores. There are also four brothers and their families, Glenn of Pomona, Cal., Ronzo of Shickley, Neb., Merritt of Geneva, and Orve of Toledo, O. The brother Earl and an infant sister are deceased. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Geneva July 22 at 2 p.m. The tribute was given by Dr. F. R. Pfoutz, pastor of the church. Organ music was provided by Miss Florence Humphrey. Lloyd London sang “The End of a Perfect Day,” and a quartet composed of Vaughn Fulton, Lloyd London, Richard Wagner and C. M. Humphrey concluded the service with “Going Down the Valley.” Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery with the American Legion in Charge. Mr. Hedden lost his life in an unfortunate accident while working on a light pole in Shickley. In some unknown way, as there were no witnesses, he came in contact with some live wires, the shock proving fatal. The Nebraska Signal, July 26th, 1951 page 1.
