Description	:	Theodore J. "Thad" Hamel, age 98, died Sept. 30, 2009, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina. Mr. Hamel was born March 19, 1911, in St. Joseph, to Joseph and Georgiana Hamel. He was a retired farmer and dairyman in the St. Joseph, Clyde and Aurora areas until he moved to Salina in 1973. He then worked at St. Mary Grade School for several years until full retirement. "Thad" Hamel, age 98, died Sept. 30, 2009, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina. Mr. Hamel was born March 19, 1911, in St. Joseph, to Joseph and Georgiana Hamel. He was a retired farmer and dairyman in the St. Joseph, Clyde and Aurora areas until he moved to Salina in 1973. He then worked at St. Mary Grade School for several years until full retirement. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus at Aurora. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marcelline, in 1997, and one grandson, Lyle L. Slater, in 1966; his father and mother, his stepfather, Joe Trembley, three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by two sons, Marvin and wife Toni Hamel, of Salina, and Mick and wife Denise Hamel, of Miltonvale; two daughters, Marilyn and husband Dean Slater, of Salina, and Arlene and husband John Egolf, of Denver; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud St., Salina, with Father Kerry Ninemire celebrant.
