As a small child his family moved to the Harcourt-Dayton vicinity where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Grace Anderson on January 24, 1916 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. To this union three children were born. For about 24 years Mr. Swanlund farmed in this vicinity. For a few years he operated a restaurant at Harcourt. As a small child his family moved to the Harcourt-Dayton vicinity where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Grace Anderson on January 24, 1916 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. To this union three children were born. For about 24 years Mr. Swanlund farmed in this vicinity. For a few years he operated a restaurant at Harcourt. In 1947 he became custodian of the grade school in the Dayton Public school system; this work he continued until he retired in 1954. Mr. Swanlund was a member of the Methodist Church. The last few years he has been in failing health. He bade farewell to this earth on Monday evening, April 4, 1960 at his home. He leaves to mourn; his devoted wife, 3 daughters, Mrs. Wilberg (Betty) Habben of Pioneer, Ia.; Mrs. Joe Rogers (Ione) of North English, Ia.; and Mrs. M. W. Forslund (Elsie) and Bob of Harcourt, one brother, A. E. Swanlund of Fort Dodge, Ia., two sisters, Mrs. Paul Wagner (Mae) of Des Moines, Ia.; Mrs. H. M. Miskimnis (Jennie) of El Paso, Texas, and four grandsons and also other relatives and so many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and two brothers. Ted Swanlund was a kind man, always very considerate of all others. His love and loyalty to his family was outstanding. He liked to talk about his wife and his children, always wishing for an opportunity to help them with their work, to share in their illnesses and a desire to help financially. He thought a lot of all children, as was shown almost every day duringthe years he worked as Custodian of the schools. Many of the children came to Ted to solve the problems that seemed to them to be so big. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
