Mark Krause officiating. Burial was in the colome Cemetery. Kahler was born Nov.1, 1908, at Carlock, to Ferdinand and Louisa (Hildenbrandt) Kahler and died Nov. 14 at Gregory. In 1910, his family homesteaded in Tripp County when that part of Roseud opened, locating 12 miles south and six miles west of Colome. He grew up and attended Progressive School in the area. He worked on the family farm and later was employed at a coal mine in Montanta and then worked for farmers in Wyoming with his brothers Reinhold and Rudloph. In 1930 he returned to the family farm in Tripp County. On Oct, 25, 1933, he married Charlotte Florence Moore. They lived on the home palce until Dec. of 1938 when they estalished their own farming operation in the area. They moved to Colome in 1982. For the past several months he had been in failing health. He was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church south of Colome, and served as an elder. He was active in the community affairs serving on the board of Progressive School and as a Lake Township board member. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Charlotte Johannsen of Benton Harbor, Mi; Caoline Hofer of Everett, Wash., and Helen Nessen of Snohomish, Wash. One son, Daniel of Fairfield , Calif' six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, John, William, Rudolph, Paul, Natalie (Dolly) Brezina, Chris, Karl, Reinhold and Alma Dean.
