Description	:	Theresa was the daughter of Rebecca Hart [b in Mercer Co, PA] and John McLeran [b Barnet, Caladonia Co, VT]. Theresa was born in Mercer Co, PA. She married Joel Lincoln Swinehart 29 March 1891 in Audubon Co, IA. Following are some thoughts written by one of her granddaughters, Helen Moffitt Hunt as she grew up near their farm west of Adair where Joel built a big home in 1901. She married Joel Lincoln Swinehart 29 March 1891 in Audubon Co, IA. Following are some thoughts written by one of her granddaughters, Helen Moffitt Hunt as she grew up near their farm west of Adair where Joel built a big home in 1901. "My first memories of Grampa Joel and Gradma Theresa were at the farm. I played in the grove north of the house and made a play house with string to separate the rooms. Grandma was a wonderful lady. I was ever entertained by the pictures she drew for me and the poetry she composed on the spot. She sang songs to me. "Marching through Georgia" and "Wink Tum Bitty", likely to be an old fiddle tune. I remember little things: Grandma liked sour cream with sugar on it, but she would get after Grampa for eating sugar with a spoon from the sugar bowl. He had a real sweet tooth. Christmas Eve was always spent at their house after the progrm at the church [Presbyterian in Adair]. Grandpa and Grandma loved Christmas. Sometimes the tree would be a limb off the pine in the yard, but it was beautiful to me. Usually it was wall to wall people as the house in town was small [later living in Adair]. All the family seemed to be there. Oyster stew was the menu, with lots of candy, nuts and oranges for dessert. They set a wonderful example of how Christmas should be celebrated." [I recently heard of Grt Grandmother's nick name as being Teezie, short for Theresa I guess. One of my cousins, a grandson to Theresa's sister, Ruth, said something about 'Teezie's house' and so finding out a name for her I had never heard from anyone else. Another memory to cherish.]
