She married Louis Schmitt on May 27, 1913 in Humphrey, NE. they were the parents of Paul, Florence, Edwin, Maurice, and Marian. June 17, 1932 - Carroll Daily Herald - Mrs. Louis J. Schmitt died at 12:30 o'clock last night in St. Anthony hospital following a lingering illness, with which she had been afflicted since October. She spent some time in the hospital last November and then went home. She failed to make much improvement and 12 week ago re-entered the hospital, but in spite of medical, aid and tender care, she was relieved from her suffering last night. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9 o'clock in St. Lawrence church with requiem high mass. The Rev. Joseph Cordes will conduct the services. Burial will be in St. Lawrence cemetery. Theresa Schneider was born Feb. 17, 1892, at Humphrey, Neb. where she was educated and grew to womanhood and at that place was united in marriage to Louis J. Schmitt, May 27, 1913. To this union five children were born: Paul, Florence, Edwin, Maurice, and Marian, all at home, who with their father survive. She also leaves three brothers and three sisters: the Rev. Cyrinus Schneider, O.F.M., of St. Louis, Mo.; William Schneider of San Francisco, Calif.; Mike Schneider of Petersburg, Neb.; Mrs. John Sibbing of Quincy, Illinois; Venerable Sister M. Ottilia of St. Mary's hospital at Columbus, Neb.; and Mrs. Henry Dreher of Springfield, N.J. The family made its home in Missouri Valley for two years and came to Carroll in November 1917, where they made many friends during 15 years of residence here. Mrs. Schmitt was devoted to her husband and family and her only regret was the thought of leaving them. She was a devout Catholic and died well fortified with the last sacraments of the church. The Rev. Cyrinus Schneider, O.F.M., of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. John Sibbing of Quincy, Illinois, are at the L.J. Schmitt home on Simon avenue, having been called by the serious illness of their sister.
