They first lived in Polk County near Columbus for about six years before coming to Section 5 of Sartoria Township in Buffalo County in about 1880. According to the 1900 census, Theresia was the mother of 12 children of whom nine were living. Anton, of Sartoria; Richard, of Miller; Otto, of Mason City; Florian(died October 30, 1922 in Grand Island); Molly Schwab,of Sartoria; Hattie Kaps, of Miller; Theresa Jones, of Okanogan, Washington; Mary Hathaway, of Okanogan, Washington; and Amelia Maack, of Mason City were listed as children of Anton and Theresia in 1922 at the time of Florian's death. Theresia is buried in a small fenced plot on their homestead in Section 5 along with her son Carl and husband Anton.
