Etna This Morning Thomas Allison dropped dead on his porch this morning, at 5:30 o'clock, at Mt. Etna, just as he was entering the house. He was 88 years old. The gentleman had not been feeling well, but no one imagined his condition dangerous. Heart trouble is the cause attributed. We shall give an obituary next week. Adams County Free Press Corning, Iowa June 3, 1914 OBITUARY Thomas Allison died suddenly at his hime near Mt. Etna, Wednesday, May 27, 1914, at 6 o'clock, aged 88 years, 6 months, and 18 days. Mr. Allison was born near Middletown, Pennsylvania, November 9, 1825. He spent his early childhood and young manhood in Pennsylvania. In 1848 he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Wilkins and to this union eight children were born. They are James, Andy, William, Thomas, Mary, Abe and two who died. Mrs. Allison preceded her husband in death, passing away October 16, 1913. In 1851 Mr. and Mrs. Allison moved to Fairfield, Iowa, where they lived until 1861, when they moved back to Pennsylvania and lived there until 1865, then came to Adams county, Iowa. When they first came to this county they located on the place where Mr. Allison passed away. The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church in Mt. Etna Friday afternoon, Rev. Mr. Broadfoot conducting the services.
