Read More	Death of an Old Resident -- Thomas Leap – "Uncle Tommy" as he was called in the neighborhood—died at his home, near Spring Hill, Sabbath afternoon, from the effects of a tumor with which he had suffered for several years and which he had had removed several months ago. The removal of the tumor was something of an experiment. With it he could not live long; without it he would live at least as long and there was a possibility that his life might be prolonged. For some time after its removal Mr. Leap seemed to be improving. It had left such a great gap in his face and neck; however, that he was constantly in danger from the slightest exposure. For several weeks past he had been rapidly failing. Mr. Leap was one of the oldest settlers of that section of country and was known to a large circle of acquaintances. He had many peculiarities, but had in him a good heart and in his way was liked by a good many friends. His death adds another name to the rather long list of old settlers who have passed away in the past two or three years. He was member of the Protestant-Methodist church, his funeral services being conducted Monday by Rev. Brown of that denomination.
