Hunt, retired president of two local industries, died this morning at his Route 3 home. He was 79. Arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home. Hunt retired in 1971 from Fairfield Aluminum Castings Co., where he had been chairman of the board. He had retired as Falco president in 1969. Following three years as a salesman for Dexter, he helped organize the Appliance Manufacturing Co. in Ohio, a new washing machine manufacturer formed by Dexter and Nash-Kelvinator. He served as secretary and board member of The Dexter Co. beginning in 1940 and was elected president of The Dexter Co. in 1947. He resigned as president and general manager of the Dester Division of Philco Corp. in 1956 when the plant was the city's largest industry with 900 employees. He left Dexter to assume duties as executive vice president of newly organized Fairfield Aluminum Castings Co. He was president of the plant during several expansions. Hune was born Sept. 10, 1910 (sic. Sept. 26, 1910). He graduated from Parsons College in 1932 and had a year of graduate study at Harvard Business College. --------------------- Fairfield Ledger Tuesday February 6, 1990 Tom B. Hunt A memorial service for Tom B. Hunt, 79, Route 3, who died of cancer at 10:20 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 1990, at his home, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with the Rev. Barney Lollar officiating. The body was cremated. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Victory Fellowship Church in Brighton. Hune was born Sept. 26, 1910, in Fairfield, the son of Ralph and Nellie Ball Hunt. He married Ruth Starr Hune 12, 1937, in Fairfiel. He was president of Appliance Manufacturing Company in Alliance, Ohio, from 1936 to 1940. He returned to Fairfield and worked for Dexter Company as a purchasing agent from 1941 until he became president in 1948, a position he held until 1956. He helped found Fairfield Aluminum Castings Co. in 1946 and served as vice president from 1958 to 1970, when he became chairman of the board. He was a member of Victory Fellowship Church in Brighton. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Patricia Haney of Gallatin, Tenn., Nancy Fleming of Westport, Conn.; four sons, James of Point Clear, Ala., Robert, Richard and Joseph, all of Fairfield; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a brother, William of San Diego. A sister, Mary, two brothers, Harvey and Ward and a grandson preceded him in death.
