YARDS Brakeman T. E. Fisher Fatally Injured Between Cars at 2:15 Saturday Morning. Thomas E. Fisher, a brakeman running between Dubuque and Oelwein, met instant death Saturday morning in the Great Western yards while inspecting the train on which be was about to go out. It was shortly after 2 a.m. as extra freight 235 was about to pull out for the east when be was inspecting the train to see that all was in order for the run. It is learned that the draw bar on one of the cars was out of order or pulled out. and that the coupling was made with chains. He was in the act of observing that all was secure when the engine struck the front of the train pushing the cars together, and his head was crushed, causing instant death. The remains were taken to the Ross undertaking parlors, and prepared for burial. They were taken to the home in Dubuque on the Saturday afternoon train. The last services will occur in Edgewood, his former home, Monday or Tuesday. Fisher was thirty-two years of age, married, and had one child a boy five years of age. Beside the wife and child he leaves a father who still resides at Edgewood, three brothers, Vernon, Adnay and Shirley, and a sister, Mrs. Maggie Richards, to mourn the loss of a kind and considerate young man. He had been in the employ of the Great Western for about three years — a year and a half in the shops at Dubuque, and the past year and a half as a brakeman. General regret is expressed at his terrible death, and sympathy is extended to the relatives.
