Fisher Edgewood, Ia., Sept. 4 - Special: Funeral services were held Friday for Vernon V. Fisher, who died Aug. 28 at the Iowa Soldiers' Home. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C.W. Cleveland at the M.E. church here and burial was in the Edgewood cemetery. Vernon V. Fisher was born on the Fisher homestead, two miles northwest of Edgewood, May 6, 1870, the son of Thomas and Margaret Fisher. He spent all his boyhood on the home farm. In 1898 at Dubuque he joined the army, 49th Iowa infantry, during the Spanish-American war. After service in Cuba he returned home and on Feb. 26, 1902, he married Ollie V. Saddler, who preceded him in death. To this union were born four children, Mrs. Hilda Cooley, Philadelphia, Pa.; Mrs. Mary Gruber, Dubuque; Eldon A., Philadelphia, and Dorothy G., who has passed away. Besides his children he leaves two brothers, Shirley H., Dubuque; Edna A., in Montana, and one sister, Mrs. Margaret M. Richards, Manchester.
