Description	:	Thomas F. Roper was the son of Henry F. Roper and Alice Hawkins Yancey Roper. He was born in Kansas in 1901 and died in Mulberry, Kansas, in 1959. Preceding him in death was his mother and father, a sister Phoebe Yancey, and a brother Virgil Yancey. Thomas served in the army during WWI and was wounded in battle one day before the war's end. Roper and Alice Hawkins Yancey Roper. He was born in Kansas in 1901 and died in Mulberry, Kansas, in 1959. Preceding him in death was his mother and father, a sister Phoebe Yancey, and a brother Virgil Yancey. Thomas served in the army during WWI and was wounded in battle one day before the war's end. He lay on the battlefield for a long time before he could get medical attention. He had to have his leg amputated several times until it reached his upper hip. In spite of his handicap, he did well. Once he went squirrel hunting with his brothers and nephews. Tom went by himself, and the others went together and took hunting dogs. When they came back Tom had more squirrels than anyone, and he was sitting quietly waiting for them. He is survived by his wife, Pearl, of the home; a step daughter, Annabelle; two brothers Harrison Yancey of Arcadia, Kansas, and Frank Yancey of Schulter, Oklahoma; and a sister Olive King of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Thomas was buried in Rosebank Cemetery in Mulberry, Kansas, next to his beloved wife, Pearl, who passed away in 1983. –Written by his great niece, Rebecca Osmond Hold
