Stratford Courier May 11, 1944 Obituary T.H. Basket Thomas H. Basket was born in Greene county, Tennessee, Jan. 20, 1877, and died at the hospital in Fort Dodge, April 28, 1944, at the age of 67 years, 3 months, 10 days. He was the son of J.H. and Louisa McMacklin Basket. He came to Iowa about 45 years ago and had lived in Stratford and community the most of that time with the exception of a few years which were spent in Minnesota. He located at Lehigh a few years ago and lived there at the time of his death. March 17, 1906, he was married to Minnie Barquist, who preceded him in death on March 20, 1941. Since her death he had lived a very lonely life. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Eva Cochran, and one brother, J.E. Basket, as well as a number of nieces and nephews, all of whom live in Tennessee. Funeral services were held at the Laufersweiler funeral home in Fort Dodge, Tuesday, May 2, with the Rev. W.C. Steely of Fort Dodge in charge. A soloist sang "No Night There" and "Abide With Me." The remains were laid to rest in the South Marion cemetery by the side of his wife. The following were the casket bearers: Tom Hakes, Ben Lundquist, Clyde Holt, Sam Lundell, Leonard Johnson, Henry Sweeney.
