Read More	THOMAS MARSHALL AN OLD PIONEER ANSWERS SUMMONS After an Illness of Nine Months He Passed Away at Home in Williamsburg Tuesday Morning. Thomas Marshall, pioneer resident of Phelps county, died at his home in Williamsburg township (Phelps County) Tuesday morning at 8 o'clock after an illness of over nine months. Dropsey is given as the Immediate cause of death. Mr. Marshall had been a resident of Phelps county for thirty years. Thomas was married to Miss Marcia Kedey (1872) in their native province and came to the states in the 1880. They came directly to Nebraska and located on on the farm in Williamsburg which has been the family home since. Six years ago the wife, who had gone through all the years of frontier hardship and been such a comfort to him, died. Since that time his children have had charge of their father's home. Their are eight surviving children: John K. Marshall of Haxton, Colorado, Mrs. R. G. (Jessie) Morrison, Mrs. Ira (Lizzie) LaRue, Mrs. John (Addie) Dahlstedt, all living in the county, the latter in Holdrege; Lillie, Ralph, Mose, and Grace, younger children living at home. He was born in Carlton County, Ontario, Canada April 28, 1838. Thomas had seven brothers: John, living in Regina in NW Canada; William lived and died in Phelps County; James, located at Holdrege; Gustus, who died in Phelps County in 1903; George lived and died in Canada; Benjamin, an old settler of Phelps County but returned to NW Canada; and Alexander who lived and died in Canada. Mr. Marshall made a visit to Canada last summer and shortly after his return his health began to fail. Since that time his decline has been marked and for nine months he has required the constant attendance of some member of the family. Mr. Marshall was a member of the Masonic and A.O.U.W. fraternities. The members of the local Masonic lodge will have charge of the funeral services at the grave. The Workmen of Elm Creek have been in constant attendance on him since his illness. Many have visited and cheered him through its discouragement. Services will be held at the home this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock and at the Willliamsburg church at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Mr. French of the Methodist church of Elm Creek, who was a close friend of Mr. Marshall, will conduct these services. Internment will be made at the Williamsburg cemetery.
