Description	:	Thomas Marshall was born 7 June 1884 in Williamsburg in Phelps County. Thomas was educated like his brothers and sisters in the sod school house on the corner of his parent's farm. Tommy and a group of his friends were swimming in an area known as the Blue Hole, a little place of deep water just east of Elm Creek bridge between the Platte River and the canal on Sunday 14 July 1907. Read More	Thomas Marshall was born 7 June 1884 in Williamsburg in Phelps County. Thomas was educated like his brothers and sisters in the sod school house on the corner of his parent's farm. Tommy and a group of his friends were swimming in an area known as the Blue Hole, a little place of deep water just east of Elm Creek bridge between the Platte River and the canal on Sunday 14 July 1907. Tommy had been diving off a boat and he said the deep water was very cold. When he made his last dive and he didn't come up. James Crawford was trying to save Tommy when Frank Moon dived in to help both of them. Frank rescued James but both he and Tommy somehow drown during the attempted rescue. Thomas Marshall was the son of Thos. Marshall, Sr., and was twenty-three years old, leaving besides his father, three brothers and five sisters, Mrs. John Dahlstedt, Mrs. La Rue and J. Marshall of Holdrege, Ralph Marshall of Elm Creek, Mrs. Morrison of Loomis and Moses, Lillie and Grace at home. Obituary TWO YOUNG MEN DIE TOGETHER located at the Phelps County Museum.
