MCDonald Thomas Ray McDonald was born in Madison county, Iowa, Dec. 7, 1891 and passed away at the home of his parents, northwest of Winterset, on Feb. 20, 1920 at the age of 28 years, 2 months and 13 days. MCDonald Thomas Ray McDonald was born in Madison county, Iowa, Dec. 7, 1891 and passed away at the home of his parents, northwest of Winterset, on Feb. 20, 1920 at the age of 28 years, 2 months and 13 days. His last sickness, which was of less than two weeks duration was borne bravely and uncomplainingly. He contracted the flu which developed into pneumonia, and although all was done that loving hands and medical skill could do to relieve him, he left us to go home to his Maker, who doeth all things well. He was converted and joined the West Star M. E. church. He was married to Miss Clara E. Allcock on Oct. 24, 1911. A little daughter, Doris Virginia, preceded her father in death and a son, Robert Nelson, aged four years, survives to mourn the loss of a loving father. Thomas was one of a family of eleven children, two having died in infancy. Of the nine who grew to manhood and womanhood, he was the first to receive the final summons. There are left to mourn his loss, his little son, Robert Nelson, an aged grandmother, father, mother, four sisters; Mrs. W. F. Leach, Mrs. H. L. Kitchell, Mrs. W. V. Bennett, Mrs. H. S. Clark, and four brothers; Robert, Luther, Wallace and Earl, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at the home on Saturday, Feb. 21, at two o'clock, by the West Star pastor Rev. W. R. Radliff, and the body laid to rest in the McDonald cemetery. Transcribed as published by Karen Brewer. Note: The headstone is inscribed with the year of birth as 1892 and the obituary states the year of birth was 1891.
