Description	:	"Obituary of Thos. Ryan, Sr.. Thos Ryan, Sr. died Thursday morning, January 31st at 2:45 o'clock. His death was caused from bronchial pneumonia after an illness of three months. The deceased was born in County Mayo, Ireland, in the year 1825. At the age of 20 years he left his native home and came to the United States, settling at Pittston, Pa., where he worked in the coal mines for twenty-seven years. Thos Ryan, Sr. died Thursday morning, January 31st at 2:45 o'clock. His death was caused from bronchial pneumonia after an illness of three months. The deceased was born in County Mayo, Ireland, in the year 1825. At the age of 20 years he left his native home and came to the United States, settling at Pittston, Pa., where he worked in the coal mines for twenty-seven years. On the 23d day of May 1852, he was united in marriage with Rosanne Daugherty at her home in Pittston. In the year 1870 he came to Union county and bought the farm where he lived for thirty-five years. After buying the farm, he returned to Pittston and worked in the mines for two years and then brought out his family to reside on the farm. The funeral services were held in the Catholic Church Saturday morning at ten o'clock by Father Redmond and his remains were buried beside those of his wife, who died fourteen years go. He leaves ten children to mourn his loss as follows: Patrick of Minnesota; Tom, John and Ed of Elk Point; Jas. of Gregory; Mrs. H. Smith of Wagner, Mrs. August Miller of Meckling, Mrs. Joe Callon of Mt. Idaho, Idaho; Mrs. Peter Limoges and Bridget Ryan of Elk Point.
