Description	:	ALMOST 91 AT DEATH Thomas Steward, a resident of Villisca since 1875, died Monday this week at his home on South Fifth Avenue at the age of ninety years and eleven months. Mr. Steward had been sick only a few days prior to his death. The funeral services were held Wednesday of this week at two o’clock at the Advent Christian Church. Elder S. H. Coleman had charge of the services. Burial was made in the Villisca Cemetery. Thomas Steward was born in Cooks Mills, Burlington County, New Jersey in 1828. He was married in 1854 to Miss Anna Harker. They resdied in New Jersey five years, then moved to Ross County Ohio, where they lived until 1869. They then moved to Benton County, Indiana and lived there until 1875, when they moved to Villisca. They continued to reside in Villisca and in the nearby vicinity until his death. To this union nine children were born. Two died in infancy and Mrs. Lulu Bryson died two years ago. The living children are Walter of Salem, Oregon; J. P. of Red Bluffs, California; Mary E. Watkins, Mrs. Emma J. Kunce, Mrs. Margaret Benson, and W. R. Steward of Villisca. The mother, Mrs. Ann Steward survive to mourn the loss of a kind husband. Twenty-five grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren living. Mr. Steward united with the Advent Christian Church south of Villisca and later with the A. Church of Villisca. During the last two years of his life he was at time helpless. His patience and thankfulness to those who cared for him were all worthy of emulation.
