Eberle, 59, who passed away at his home in Varina last Thursday, were held from St. Columbkill’s church in Varina Saturday morning, the Rev. G. Barry officiating. Eberle, son of Thomas and Catherine Eberle was born July 18, 1883 near Freeport, Ill., and passed away at his home in Varina January 7, after an illness of one and one-half years. From Freeport the family moved to Cass county, Iowa, where they engaged in farming, later moving to Pocahontas county. In 1911 he moved to Varina and was employed by Al Hocum in the elevator for nine years. In 1926 he purchased a service station in Varina which he operated until ill health forced him to give up the work a year and a half ago. He was united in marriage to Miss Anna Schaa at Breda, Iowa, Feb. 3, 1925 and to this union were born two sons and one daughter, one son dying in infancy. Mr. Eberle was a devout member of the Catholic church. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Bernice, 14, and a son, Robert, 7, as well as three sisters, Mrs. William Guthrie and Mrs. William Harrigan of Varina, Mrs. William Kinney, Hector, Minn. and three brothers, Frank of Pocahontas, and Charles and Fred of near Pocahontas. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Clem Guthrie of Spirit Lake and one brother, John of Pocahontas. Contributed by Teresa #4956080
