LINGLE PASSED AWAY AT LINCOLN A Former Resident of St. Edward Buried at Woodville; Other St. Edward News T. Y. Lingle, former resident of Boone county, passed away at Lincoln, Friday, at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 27 days. He was the last one to go of a family of two brothers and two sisters. For the past three or four months he had been in failing health, but was not bedfast for any length of time. Thomas Young Lingle was born August 12, 1859, in Iredell county, North Carolina, and departed this life at Lincoln, Nebraska, on July 9, 1937. He came to Nebraska when about thirty years of age; staying with his brother, Samuel, for a year or two. He then returned to North Carolina where he was married on February 23, 1890, to Miss Mittie Dodd. To this union were born five boys and one girl. Four of the boys survive: They are Edgar of Creighton, Harry of Phoenix, Arizona; Lester and Merlin of Lincoln. One son and the daughter died in infancy. Returning to Nebraska in 1894 Mr. Lingle followed the trade of blacksmith most of the time. In later years, age and health necessitated his retirement from active life. A part of this time he spent with his son Lester, on a farm near Nebraska City. He lived in St. Edward part of last year, moving to Lincoln in November. Soon after coming to Nebraska, he with his wife joined the Presbyterian church of St. Edward and he was able to attend church some last summer. His widow and four sons survive him. The only other relatives surviving in St. Edward are a niece, Mrs. John Fonda, a nephew, Jay L. Lingle; and some great nieces and nephews.
