Mr. Hourigan was born in County Tipperary, Ireland. In 1868 he emigrated to American and settled at Mineville, Essex Co., N.Y., where he followed mining. Mr. Hourigan was born in County Tipperary, Ireland. In 1868 he emigrated to American and settled at Mineville, Essex Co., N.Y., where he followed mining. July 2, 1871, he was married to Miss Bridget Collins at Port Henry, N.Y. Mr. Hourigan followed mining in Utah, for two and a half years. In 1878 Mr. and Mrs. Hourigan came to Fillmore County, Nebraska, and settled on a farm in Madison Township. They remained on the farm until they moved to Geneva in 1903. In 1923 Mr. and Mrs. Hourigan moved to Omaha and that city remained their home until Mr. Hourigan's death. Sixteen years ago in May Mr. and Mrs. Hourigan and daughter Kate went back to Ireland on a visit and remained there until September. Mr. Hourigan is survived by his wife and the following children; Thomas Hourigan of Omaha, Charles M. Hourigan of Geneva, Matthew Hourigan of Denver, John Hourigan of Omaha, Kate Hourigan of Omaha, Tim A. Hourigan of Omaha, Francis of Haywards, Cal., and William P. of Crete. All were present at their fathers bedside when he passed on except Francis. The oldest child, Sarah died when she was six years old. The funeral service was conducted at St. Anne's Church in Omaha at 7:45 Tuesday morning by Rev. Father Stagno. The funeral party came to Exeter on No. 5 on Tuesday. At Exeter a short service was held in St. Stephen's Church and it was conducted by Father Gilroy of Friend, who officiated because of the illness of Rev. Father E. Boll. Interment followed in the Exeter Cemetery in the Hourigan family lot. The six sons acted as pallbearers. Mr. Hourigan is survived by two sisters, Mrs. John Harrington and Mrs. Dennis Manning, both of Geneva. His grandchildren numbered twelve. Upright in character, kindly disposed to all men, Mr. Hourigan leaves behind him a multitude of friends who will regret to learn of his passing on. The Nebraska Signal April 1926
