Hulsebus of Carroll, died Jan. 11 of influenza and pneumonia at Cazenovia, N. Y. Her cremated ashes will be interred at Heaton, N. D. at the convenience of the family. Hulsebus of Carroll, died Jan. 11 of influenza and pneumonia at Cazenovia, N. Y. Her cremated ashes will be interred at Heaton, N. D. at the convenience of the family. Mrs. Emerson was born in Germany and emigrated to the United States in 1880. She was married in 1893 to Albert B. Hulsebus, Sr. at Defiance, Iowa and moved to a homestead near Heaton, N. D. in 1897, which she still owned. She was widowed in 1907 and raised four daughters and five sons alone for seven years until her marriage in 1915 to Willis E. Emerson. Her 10th child, Willis H. Emerson was born in 1917. After her second husband's death in 1947, she lived alone until 1962 when she went to live with her eldest daughter, Beulah, in New York. In 1958 she was honored by the governor of North Dakota for her efforts to clean up and beautify the little village of Heaton, N. D. Preceding her in death were her brothers, Ben, Harry and Arthur Ahrenholtz of Defiance, Iowa, George of Odebolt and a sister, Sena Krull of Armour, S. D. as well as her sons Oliver of Kansas, Ben of Defiance and Otto of Butte, N. D. and daughter Elsie at the age of 8. Surviving besides Albert of Carroll and her daughter Beulah (Mrs. T. E. Simonton) are her sons Harry Hulsebus of Grand Forks, N. D., WIllis Emerson of Minot, N. D. and daughters Mrs. Alton F. (Florence) Jung of Sioux Falls, S. D., Mrs. H. E.
