Description	:	Henry Gerdes Ahrenholtz was born April 10, 1845 in Leer, Lower Saxony, Germany. In 1865, he married Anna Marie Stillaan. To this union 7 children were born: 1. Johanne Gesine in 1864 2. George in 1967 3. Henry Jr in 1870 4. Bernhard in 1872 5. Arend in 1873 (Died as an infant in Germany) 6. Tina in 1875 7. Arthur in 1878 Henry and Anna Marie and 5 of their children emigrated from Germany to America in 1885 and homesteaded several miles northwest of Defiance, Iowa. To this union 7 children were born: 1. Johanne Gesine in 1864 2. George in 1967 3. Henry Jr in 1870 4. Bernhard in 1872 5. Arend in 1873 (Died as an infant in Germany) 6. Tina in 1875 7. Arthur in 1878 Henry and Anna Marie and 5 of their children emigrated from Germany to America in 1885 and homesteaded several miles northwest of Defiance, Iowa. Four of Henry and Marie's children (Henry Jr, Bernhard, Tina and Arthur Ahrenholtz) married 4 Hulsebus children (Tillie, Matilda, Albert and Lydia Hulsebus, respectively), with two of these Hulsebus children (Mitilda and Lydia) born to Peter Sr and Helena (Weber) Hulsebus. The other 2 Hulsebus children (Albert and Tillie) were brother and sister, whose father was Benard Hulsebus, the older brother of Peter Sr Hulsebus. From Harlan Tribune (May 5, 1920) Art Ahrenholtz was called to Tripp, South Dakota Tuesday by the serious illness of his father, Henry Ahrenholtz. Word was received here yesterday of this father's death. The remains will be brought back to Defiance for burial. The funeral will be held at the Methodist Evangelical church Friday afternoon, with services conducted by Rev W. Kalas [Although not confirmed, it likely the Henry Sr was staying with his daughter Gazina and her husband Karl Krull near Tripp, South Dakota when he died]. FAG memorials have not been created for Johanne Gesine or her husband Karl Krull as burial information in unknown at this time. The Defiance History (1882-2007) book states that Henry Sr and Angelena's children were Gazina, George, Henry, Bernard. It is not clear why Art was not listed as a son too. An infant son Arend died in Germany in 1875.
