In addition to Charles, James, and Reuben Morse, Titus Morse was the father of Mary Morse Winner and Martha Morse Thompson. The FAIRFIELD LEDGER, May 25, 1871, Page 3, col. 6. DIED, in Fairfield, Iowa, Sunday morning, May 20, 1871, Mary, wife of W.P. Winner, in the 41st year of her age, of Kansas City, Mo. The deceased, with her husband and young daughter, were here on a visit to her relatives and friends, and after a very brief illness she was suddenly called from earth to heaven. Mr. Winner and his wife were for a long time residents of Fairfield, and about 1856 removed to a more western home. In the sad affliction he has the heartfelt sympathy of our entire community. *************************** Last Will and Testament of Titus Morse In the name of God, Amen, I Titus Morse of the County of Van Buren and the State of Iowa being of sound mind and memory, and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish, and declare this to be my last will and testament. This is to say: First, after all my debts are paid and discharged, the residue of my estate, real and personal, I give, bequeath, and dispose of as follows: To wit: To my sons, Charles L. Morse and James Morse each one hundred dollars. My stepson, Benjamin Franklin Sanford one hundred dollars, and my daughters Mary Winner and Martha Morse each one hundred dollars. I give, bequeath, and devise all the rest, residue, and remainder of my real and personal estate to my beloved wife, Almira, during her natural lifetime, and after her death, all the estate that may then remain both real and personal to my children, including Benjamin Franklin Sanford, or their heirs who may be living at the decease of my wife, to be divided equally between them, share and share alike. Likewise, I make, constitute, and appoint my wife, Almira, and my son-in-law, Wm P. Winner to be executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affirm my love the 1st day of March 1855, Signed: Titus Morse. Probated 13 November 1855.
