He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Tony Gene Phillips, Steve Phillips, step son, Grant Elledge; brothers, Walter Phillips, Lawrence Phillips, Henry Phillips, Robert Phillips, Johnny Phillips; sisters, Opal Eller, Betty Hester. Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2017 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Tim DeBord and Pastor Brian Miller officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at Zion Hill Baptist Church from 2:00 until 3:00 on Monday, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boomer Community Center, c/o John German, 162 Boomer Community Center Road, Boomer, NC 28606. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
