He was the son of Thomas Baird Dubois (abt 1806-bet 1851-60) and Hettie Esther Baird (1801-1997). Their burial sites are currently unknown. Toussaint's father Thomas was born in the Vincennes area prior to Indiana statehood, when still a part of Indiana Territory. His parents were Toussaint Dubois Sr. (1762-1816) and Mary Jane Baird (1781-1842). Toussaint's mother Hettie was born in Kentucky, either in Nelson County or Shelby County. Hettie's mother, Catherine Tyler (1777-1839), was born in Boone's Station, Kentucky. Both died in Shelby Co., KY. On Jan. 28, 1839 Toussaint married Cynthia Carrie Pace (1841-1886). Carrie was born in Mt. Vernon, Jefferson Co., Illinois, the daughter of medical doctor Joel Jackson Pace (1813-1846) and Sophronia Scott (1813-1853). Toussaint and Carrie were married for 21 years and had six known children. They were Hettie Irene Dubois (1866-1943), Robert Dubois (1868- ?), Thomas H. Dubois (1870- ?), Carrie E. Dubois (1873- ?), Fannie A. Dubois (1875- 1891) and Mary Belle Dubois (1879-1949). Sophronia died on Sept. 24, 1886 in Mt. Ayr, Ringgold Co., Iowa at the relatively young age of 44. She was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery located in Ringgold County. Toussaint died on Feb. 12, 1896 in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa at the age of 56. He was buried in Fairview Cemetery in Council Bluffs. His daughter Fannie, who died five years earlier at the age of 16, is also buried in the Fairview Cemetery. *************************************
