Description	:	From a 1909 Nance County, Nebraska, newspaper clipping file, transcribed by Linda Berney: Triphena Rosetta Cutting, the subject of this sketch, was born in the state of New York August 19, 1833 and after a lingering illness, passed away April 27, 1909 at the ripe age of 75 years, 8 months and 8 days. In early life she came to Pennsylvania and from there to Wisconsin in an emigrant wagon, and from there to the state of Minnesota, and thence to Kansas, and from there to Nebraska, having nothing better than an emigrant wagon on all these long... Read More	From a 1909 Nance County, Nebraska, newspaper clipping file, transcribed by Linda Berney: Triphena Rosetta Cutting, the subject of this sketch, was born in the state of New York August 19, 1833 and after a lingering illness, passed away April 27, 1909 at the ripe age of 75 years, 8 months and 8 days. In early life she came to Pennsylvania and from there to Wisconsin in an emigrant wagon, and from there to the state of Minnesota, and thence to Kansas, and from there to Nebraska, having nothing better than an emigrant wagon on all these long journeys. Mrs. Johnson was twice married, first to Mr. Ensign Odell, to whom two sons were born, James and George Odell, both have lived and reared families in this community. Fifty five yeas ago she was united in marriage to Mr. Cyrus H. Johnson. To this union were born four children, Wallace, Ida Belle, deceased, Frank Warren, and Etta Belle, wife of Mr. Henry Darling, all respected citizens of this community. In the early life of Mrs. Johnson, she united with the Free Will Baptist church, later with the Methodist church. When she came to this state more than a quarter of a century ago, she was then in the youth of old age in a new and undeveloped country, when physicians were few and a trained nurse was unknown; she became both on many occasions and many will in her death recall the times when she ministered to them.... ...she was provided with every comfort by her son and step son and other loved ones, until the weary wheel of life at last stood still.... The funeral was held from the home of her son, W. F. Johnson, yesterday afternoon and the remains were laid to rest in the Fullerton cemetery. ------------------ Triphena is found in the 1870 census in Cloud County, Kansas, with her 2nd husband, Cyrus H. Johnson, who was born ca 1800 in Vermont.
