Read More	JONESVILLE - Truett Hamblin "Ham'' Garner Sr., 70, husband of Rachel Gossett Garner, of 662 Vernon Foster Road, Jonesville, died Sunday, July 1, 2001 at 6:05 a.m. in Wallace Thomson Hospital. Mr. Garner was born in Union County on September 9, 1930, a son of the late Oscar and Lillian Hall Garner. He was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church, where he served as head deacon and was a teacher for the Men's No. 2 Sunday School Class. Mr. Garner was retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company and was owner of Garner Oil Company of Jonesville. He was a 1949 graduate of Union High School and a former member of the South Carolina National Guards. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters and a son-in-law, Martha G. and Dennis Fletcher of Boiling Springs and Jane Garner of Jonesville; a son and daughter-in-law, Truett H. Garner Jr. and Jackie Garner of Pacolet; two sisters, Omega G. Groce of Macon, Ga., and Joyce G. Scott of Moore; a brother, Hubert Garner of Sanford, N.C.; three grandchildren, Chris Garner, Crystal Sexton and Brandy Garner; and two great-grandchildren, Anna and Austin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fairforest Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Aulbrey Calvert. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Haskell Sexton II, Grady Lanier, Jerry Knox, Roy Adams, Jimmy Rector, Jimmy Cantrell, Randy Penland and Joey Shetley. The following are asked to assemble at the church at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday to form the honorary escort: members of the Tennis Team and members of the Men's No. 2 Sunday School Class. The family is at the home, 662 Vernon Foster Road, Jonesville and will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2001 at the Fairforest Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairforest Baptist Church, 1917 Jonesville Highway, Jonesville, S.C. 29379. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
