On Jan. 24, 1838 he was married to Margaret, the daughter of Andrew McCullough. After marriage Mr. and Mrs. Gartrell resided on the home place five years at which time he sold his interest in the property and purchased a farm about two miles north of Leesville where they remained twenty years; thence they moved to Uhrichsville, same state and from there, after seven years, came to the Village of Leesville, where he is now quietly living, a retired life. The names of the children born to the couple are: John R., Remus W., Mary (Mrs. Enoch Parker), Catherine (Mrs. Greenberry Bosley), and Andrew N. Mr. Gartrell has made his own success and accumulated a fine property comprised of 370 acres of well improved land
