Description	:	Val Robert Thompson, one of six children of Robert Benjamin and Harriet (Collins) Thompson, was born August 10, 1905, in Superior, Nebraska, and passed away March 22, 1987, in the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, Kansas, at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 12 days. He was educated in Pleasant Ridge Country School North of Bostwick, Bostwick School and Superior Schools. On May 22, 1929, in Superior, he was married to Carrie M. Wells. This union was blessed with three children, Billie, Robert and Bettie. They lived in Jewell County Kansas, Bostwick, Guide Rock and Superior. He farmed just south of Superior in Jewell County, doing his farming with horses and mules. He was very proud of his horses. While living in Superior, he was employed for 30 years working for Ed Groves at the Smoke House. He enjoyed playing pinochle and pool. He taught many young boys how to play pool. Val was a friend to all. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed kidding around with his many friends. He was an active member of Eagles Lodge #3101 of Superior. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ray and Harvey Thompson; three sisters, Ethel Ellis, Hilda Thomas and Aletha Plambeck. Survivors include his loving wife Carrie of the home in Superior; two sons, Billie and his wife Wanda Thompson and Robert G. Thompson, all of Superior; one daughter, Bettie K. and her husband Bob Isaacson of Garden City, Kansas; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 24, 1987; at 2:00 p.m. from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska, with Rev. Morris Coggin officiating. Music was provided by Carol Shambaugh, soloist, singing "Amazing Grace" and "Beyond The Sunset" with Carlita Price as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Roland Shambaugh, Ed Groves, LaVerne Fullerton, Blaine Hicks, Wayne Adams and William Schriever. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery near Superior, Nebraska.
