Description	:	Additional information provided by Rich Robinson Vance Vague Adams, son of Ammandus and Hannah Patton Adams, was born in Fernace county, Neb. on Nov. 13, 1893. At the age of seven his parents and nine children traveled by covered wagon from western Nebraska to Iowa. The family settled on a farm southwest of Peterson. He spent his boyhood years in the Webb-Spencer area. In 1916 he was married to Effie Williams and to this marriage a son Elvin was born. Read More	Additional information provided by Rich Robinson Vance Vague Adams, son of Ammandus and Hannah Patton Adams, was born in Fernace county, Neb. on Nov. 13, 1893. At the age of seven his parents and nine children traveled by covered wagon from western Nebraska to Iowa. The family settled on a farm southwest of Peterson. He spent his boyhood years in the Webb-Spencer area. In 1916 he was married to Effie Williams and to this marriage a son Elvin was born. In 1918 he enlisted in the army, serving in the Corps of Engineers. During this time he also attended barber college. On Feb. 8, 1921, he was united in marriage with Velma Smallwood at Eldora. To this union were born six children. The early years of their married life was spent in Gifford. In 1948 they moved to Sioux Rapids, where he established many lasting friendships. He worked as a self employed painter for 42 years. He was a member of the American Legion and was an active outdoorsman and fisherman throughout his lifetime. Vance passed away unexpectedly in a car accident on Feb. 23, 1973, at the age of 79 years, three months and 10 days. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma, his parents, two sisters, Nellie Felton and Iva Story, and four brothers, Oscar, Charlie, Oral and Vete He leaves to mourn his passing, two daughters, Shirley, Mrs Gene Hunter of Anaheim, Calif , Bonnie, Mrs Don Weberg of Yankton, S D , five sons, Sherrill of Storm Lake, Kenneth of Wellsburg, Ronal of Astoria, Ore, Gerald of Odessa, Mo, Elvin of Eldora, also 21 grandchildren, one great-grandson, two sisters, Nonie, Mrs Harley Cramer of Little Falls, Minn., and Eva, Mrs Allen Carr of Spencer and a host of other relatives and friends.
