Description	:	Varden Larue Stout, 101, of Clarence, died at 6:25 a.m. Friday at the Harrison Rest Home in Shelbina where he had lived for eight years. He had been in very ill health for several weeks. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Brown of Clarence, Mrs. Mary Leota Lockard of Austin, Texas, and Mrs. Jessie Testerman of Altamont, Kansas; a son, Donald Stout of Knox City; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, Walter, and three brothers, Lawson, Johnie and Tom. Mr. Stout was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clarence and had served as a deacon for many years. Visitation was held at the Greening Funeral Home in Clarence. Funeral services were Sunday, Aug. 28, 1977, at 2 p.m. in the Clarence Baptist Church. Rev. Hershel Edwards and Bro. Charles Embree officiated. Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery, near Plevna, Mo. Music was furnished by Mrs. Lawrence Rice and Mrs. Jack Simpson. Pallbearers were Allen Watson, Omer Edwards, Manley Brown, Otis Renner, Anderson Meadows and Shelby Hanlin.
