Description	:	VEDA LOUISE REED HUME HILDING, age 91 of Shenandoah, IA formerly of Thurman, IA died Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah following an extended illness. Veda was born March 9, 1927 to Ura Florence (Hindman) Reed and Curtis Perry Reed on a farm 3 miles east of Thurman, IA. She attended Country School, Tabor and Thurman High School graduating in 1944. Read More	VEDA LOUISE REED HUME HILDING, age 91 of Shenandoah, IA formerly of Thurman, IA died Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah following an extended illness. Veda was born March 9, 1927 to Ura Florence (Hindman) Reed and Curtis Perry Reed on a farm 3 miles east of Thurman, IA. She attended Country School, Tabor and Thurman High School graduating in 1944. Veda worked for a year at the Swanson's Food Plant in Malvern then attended Iowa Teacher's College summer course receiving an Emergency Teaching Certificate. Veda then taught County School near Hamburg, IA.  Veda married Robert M. Hume on June 14, 1946 in Red Oak, IA and to this union 5 children were born. She was a real Farmer's Wife, working with her husband on the family farm they loved. Veda was a member of the Better Homes Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. After Bob's death in 1982, Veda married Oscar Hilding on January 2, 1985 and moved to Shenandoah, IA after living on the family farm for 35 years.  Veda was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Mary Reed; husband, Bob Hume; infant son, Terry Gale Hume at 3 weeks of age; brother, Gale Reed; and second husband, Oscar Hilding. She is survived by 2 daughters, Cheryl McGill and husband Kevin of Omaha, NE and Susie Berry of Sidney, IA; 2 sons, Larry Hume and wife Louise of Sidney and Darrell Hume and friend Phyllis James of Council Bluffs, IA; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Clark Reed and Elbert both of Omaha; numerous nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the United Faith Church in Sidney, IA with Rev. Jan Phillips of the Thurman, IA United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be open after 5:00 PM Monday, and the family will greet friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at the Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney, IA. Interment will be in the Thurman, IA Cemetery and, in lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Sidney United Faith Church. The Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney, IA is in charge of arrangements.
