He was born May 22, 1908, to John and Georgia (Reed) Thomsen on the Johan Thomsen family homestead near Waco, nine miles west of Mansfield. He attended school at Mud Springs. He married Frances Pattie on Nov. 25, 1932, at Mount Vernon. They moved to their present ranch in 1935, where they ranched, raising Hereford cattle, sheep and horses. Thomsen, 87, a well-known Douglas County rancher, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 1995, at his home. He was born May 22, 1908, to John and Georgia (Reed) Thomsen on the Johan Thomsen family homestead near Waco, nine miles west of Mansfield. He attended school at Mud Springs. He married Frances Pattie on Nov. 25, 1932, at Mount Vernon. They moved to their present ranch in 1935, where they ranched, raising Hereford cattle, sheep and horses. Mr. Thomsen and his sons were actively involved in ranching until the time of his death. Mr. Thomsen was a leader of the Mansfield Livestock 4-H Club for 17 years and a member of the Douglas County 4-H Leaders Council. He was a longtime supporter of the North Central Washington Fair at Waterville and had helped develop Camp Delaney 4-H Camp at Sun Lakes. He was a member of the Washington State Cattlemen's Association, the Douglas County Cattlemen's Association, was Douglas County Cattleman of the Year in 1968 and was inducted into the Douglas County Cattlemen's Hall of Fame in 1985. He was a member of the Washington Wheat Growers Association, the American Polled Hereford Association, the Mansfield Grange and the IOOF and Rebekah lodges. Survivors include his wife, of the family home; two sons; his sister; and six grandchildren. Arrangements are by the Waterville Funeral Home. *written by Mary L.
