Vera is buried next to her first husband, using his surname. THOMAS, VERA LaVINA—Vera LaVina Koehn, daughter of Herman and Helen Koehn, was born in York county, Nebraska, September 7, 1885. She passed away unexpectedly at her home in Geneva, Neb., November 13, 1960. She was baptized in the Lutheran church at Cordova, Neb. Later she united with the Methodist church of Geneva. She received her schooling near Exeter, Neb. She was united in marriage to Louis Carl Fiedler, February 28, 1907. The young couple moved to a farm near Fairmont for a number of years. They later moved to a farm near Geneva, where Mr. Fiedler preceded her in death in 1937. After the passing of her husband, she moved into Geneva, and a few years later, she married N. E. Thomas, who preceded her in death in 1954. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge and other lodges and clubs in Geneva. Those who mourn her passing are her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fiedler of Geneva, and her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hoppa of North Platte, Neb.; three grandchildren, Larry Fiedler, who is in the Air Force, Mrs. Bernard Boyer and Robert Hoppa of North Platte; three sisters, and three brothers, Mrs. Celia Morehouse of Tyrone, Okla., Carolina Walkup of Miami, Fla., Margaret Due of York, Leo Koehn of Exeter, William Koehn of Lincoln and Robert Koehn of York and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends in the surrounding community. One daughter and one son preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at 10 a. m. Thursday, November 17, at the Kritner-Farmer funeral home. Rev. Alden B. Sears officiated. Mrs. Gerald Pickerell sang "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me." Mrs. Willard Foster was accompanist. Pallbearers were Lawrence Ebbeka, George Decker, Walter Ebbeka, Clyde Ewart, Wendell Lauber and Charles Miller. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal November 24th, 1960 page 9. Middle initial is different on the headstone than in the obit.
