Description	:	Vera was born on Sept. 22, 1928, in Savage, Mt., the daughter of Christopher and Norma (Scott) Madsen. She was the oldest of four siblings. She grew up and attended schools in Savage. Vera was united in marriage to Melvin Ler on May 26, 1951, in Sidney, Mt. They made their home in the Savage area where they farmed for a time. In 1965, they opened the Ler's garage in Savage where Vera was the bookkeeper. They... Read More	Vera was born on Sept. 22, 1928, in Savage, Mt., the daughter of Christopher and Norma (Scott) Madsen. She was the oldest of four siblings. She grew up and attended schools in Savage. Vera was united in marriage to Melvin Ler on May 26, 1951, in Sidney, Mt. They made their home in the Savage area where they farmed for a time. In 1965, they opened the Ler's garage in Savage where Vera was the bookkeeper. They sold the business in 1979. Her husband, Melvin died on January 5, 1981 and she remained in Savage. Vera started painting houses, making lawn ornaments and worked at the Angus Ranch House Motel. After three years Vera stopped working there but continued painting houses and doing lawn ornaments. In 1989-90, Vera's health forced her to retire. Vera was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Savage. She made numerous trips to Billings and enjoyed going to yard sales. In the earlier years, Vera and her parents enjoyed agate picking. Vera died on Monday, March 11, 2013, Aspen Meadows Nursing Home, Billings, Mt. Vera is survived by; a son, Steve(Joann)Ler, Savage, Mt.; a daughter, Mitzie(Bill)Haney, Billings, Mt.; a brother Wesley, Baker, Mt.; a sister Verna, Dunell, Mn.; five grandchildren, Brad, Christa, Jolyn, Braden and April; six great grandchildren. Vera was preceded in death by; her parents; her husband, Melvin; her brother, Elver, sisters-in-law Violet Madsen and Annabelle Madsen; and as brother-in-law Percy Kassner. Sidney Herald 17 Mar 2013
