Verda departed this life on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the College View Assisted Living, Hastings, Nebraska. Verda grew up in the Edgar, Nebraska community and graduated from Edgar (NE.) Verda departed this life on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the College View Assisted Living, Hastings, Nebraska. Verda grew up in the Edgar, Nebraska community and graduated from Edgar (NE.) High School with the class of 1935. Verda graduated from Peru (NE.) State College in Peru, Nebraska. She then taught school in Crete, Sutton and Edgar, Nebraska for many years. Verda was united in marriage to Edgar Allen "Ed" Bussell on June 6, 1948 at Edgar, Nebraska. The couple celebrated over 61 years of married life together before Ed's passing in 2010. Ed together with Verda owned and operated Bussell Implement, Edgar, Nebraska for 30 years. Verda was a long time member of the Church of the Plains, Edgar, Nebraska, the Order of Eastern Star, she enjoyed working in her garden raising flowers and as well as vegetables. Verda also did needle work and quilted for many years. Verda always enjoyed cooking for Ed and family and friends when they would stop by. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Allen "Ed" Bussell and brother, LaVern Gingrich. Survivors are: nephew, Thomas Gingrich and wife, Merrily of Overland Park, KS.; niece, JoJanet Lausterer and husband, Dr. Jack of Overland Park, KS.; nephew, Ken Bussell and wife, Helen of Nashville, TN,; niece, Jayne McClellan and husband, Dave of Auburn, IN.; Carol Sue Reese of Auburn, TN. and a host of relatives and friends. Burial was in the Fairfield Cemetery, Fairfield, NE.
