Vere was born on Oct. 22, 1917 in rural Cherokee to F. Thomas and Grace (Jimmerson) Corrington. He graduated from Aurelia High School. He was married to Darlene Caboth on June 3, 1943 at Cherokee He had farmed in Pitcher and Spring Township for many years moving to his current acreage southwest of Cherokee in 1966. He had worked for Wilson Foods from 1966 until retiring in 1982. Vere raised and broke horses, enjoyed going to horse sales and did leatherwork and saddle repair. He was one of the original founders of the 4-H Cavaliers and was a longtime member of the Cherokee Saddle Club. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Darlene on Nov. 2, 1994, two brothers Leo and Bob Corrington. He is survived by one daughter and three sons: Janice Witcombe and her husband Ronald of Cherokee; Michael Corrington and his wife Lianne of Perry, Okla.; Robert D. Corrington of Cherokee; Douglas Corrington and his wife Stacey of Hastings, Minn.; four grandchildren: Lori Solsaa and her husband Greg of Watertown, S.D.; Bart Corrington of Tallahasse, Fla.; Tyler and Dillon Corrington of Hastings, Minn.; one great granddaughter Josi Solsaa.
