Read More	Verena Pauline Mazour was born September 27, 1927 to Leo and Elizabeth Szopieary (sic) on the family farm near Lawrence, Nebraska. Verena went to be with the lord and her dear husband Everett, Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the age of 85 in Boerne, Texas. Life on the farm and in a large family led her to a lifelong commitment to hard work, family, laughter and a great card game. Verena married Everett Mazour on April 9, 1947. They were blessed with two sons, Robert and Michael and privately mourned the loss of two unborn daughters and one infant son. Verena enjoyed her work along the side of her husband as a teller in the local bank. But, her real joy in life was found in the garden, on the golf course, at the card table and in the kitchen. She always had a green thumb, raising the most beautiful flowers and most productive vegetables, leading to delicious meals and the best pies in the world. Her competitive spirit was always on display whether playing Old Maid or an intense game of bridge. She loved a good game, enjoyed a win and always played with a jovial spirit. Ask any of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren or friends and you will get endless stories telling of her determination, focus, stubborn spirit and her endearing laugh. Verena lived every day of her life fully engaged. She was faithful and dedicated in prayer. She loved her family and friends with all her heart. She never did anything part way, it was always all or nothing for her. In her honor, we are all challenged to be present in this life. Take time to play a game and play to win. Knead some bread with your bare hands just to impact your spirit into the gift of your creation. Look people in the eye, offer them a big smile and a hearty giggle just to bring joy into their life. Verena was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Everett, her parents, Leo and Elizabeth, sisters, Clementine & Hildegard, brother, Leo. She is survived by her sons, Robert, Michael (Mick) and wife Sonja, all of Boerne, Texas; 7 grandchildren Paula Darling, Todd Mazour & wife Michelle, Mike Mazour, Cris Crosier (Robert), Josh Mazour, Jed Mazour & wife Denise, Megan Wolosin & husband Ty (Mick), 10 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and the rest of her family and friends. A memorial mass was celebrated by Fr. Anthony Cummings, Friday, September 20, 2013 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church Boerne, Texas. Rosary was held Monday, September 23, 2013 and Mass was on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lawrence, with Father Thomas Bush Officiating (sic). Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Lawrence. Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska was in charge of local arrangements.
