Read More	Verle Beckman, 94, passed away on March 30, 2022 at Scenic Manor, Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls with burial in the Dayton Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls. Verle was born and raised in Dayton, Iowa. Verle grew up on the family farm north of Dayton. His biggest memory was getting off the school bus to see his entire house burnt down. Verle served as Mayor of Dayton for a period of time in the 1960's. He managed a Ford Dealership in Dayton and in 1968 moved to Iowa Falls buying the Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury Dealership. He was a 70 year member of the American Legion and served in the Navy during WWII on a LST. Other memberships include, Bethany Lutheran Church; Elks; Iowa Dealer Assoc.; Highland Golf Club. Verle balanced his time between family and friends and built a successful Ford dealership, served on the FoMoCo Midwest Dealership Advertising Committee and supported his community in numerous positions. When he could make time he had numerous hobbies. In his younger years he enjoyed his yearly summer camping/fishing and boating vacations with his family and friends, pheasant hunting excursions, golf and even riding his American saddle horse in the Dayton parade. He was a wood worker his entire life and even built his own wooden speedboat. He was preceded in death by parents Glenn and Ruby; brothers Donald and Charles; wife Ruth and granddaughter Tessa; great granddaughter Elsie. He is survived by his wife Virginia Iowa Falls; sons Dennis (Mary) Marshalltown; Dean (Nancy) Vinton; David (Brenda) Iowa Falls. Step Children Steve (Marianne) Carlson Western Springs, IL; Diane (Dave) Wyman Elmhurst, IL. 5 Grandchildren; 8 Great-Grandchildren. 5 Step Grandchildren and 2 Step Great-Grandchildren.
