Born April 21, 1898, he had lived on the same farm all his life. Mr. Snow was a graduate of Crawford County high school in Cherokee. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Edith Dell of the home, Cherokee, R.R.2, and Mrs. Ruth Crocker, Girard; two nieces, Mrs. Marjorie Christian, Girard, and Mrs. Virginia Pace, Montesano, Wash., and two nephews, Kenneth Crocker of Kennewick, Wash., and Loren Snow of St. Mary, Kans. A brother, Fred Snow of Monmouth, died five months ago. Funeral services were held today, Friday, at the Holiness church of Monmouth, Rev. Robert G. Moore officiating, with interment in the Cherokee cemetery. Vern was one of the nicest men we have ever known. And we know whereof we speak, as we have fished, camped, hunted, etc., with him many, many times. And if there is a way of finding out the real character of a person, it is on these occasions. Although he used a crutch to walk with, he could always best us to a tree, when the dogs had a possum treed. He could catch more fish than we could, and could also eat more fish than we could probably get down, although we tried to keep up with him. He was a good companion on these trips and never asked for any assistance. He was a good farmer and stockman. Much better than some who had no difficulty in getting around. We were glad to be able to call Vern our friend. He was a musician of considerable ability, and played both the violin and saxophone at many of the dances in this area. A good man gone. Pallbearers will be Paul Barnes, Granville Lovell, James Scales, Paul Clark, W.D. Autem and Gene McColm. Miss Betty Barnes, Miss Anita Lovell and Miss Lucille Lovell will sing, accompanied by Miss Jody Chance. The Brenner Mortuary of Pittsburg is in charge of funeral arrangements.
