Cherokee Sentinel, Friday, Feb. 17, 1939, page 1: Mrs. Elizabeth Snow Dead Mrs. Elizabeth Snow, 73, died at 7:00 o'clock yesterday morning at her home west of this city. She had been ill for some time and was taken to the Community hospital in Pittsburg, but had been taken later to her home. Mrs. Snow (Lizzie to her friends) was born June 19,1865 in Hagerstown, Indiana, and came to this vicinity when seven years old. She had lived in the same school district for 66 years. She was a member of the Christian church. She was one of the finest women we have ever known. We enjoyed visiting she and Vern, and used to stop there frequently when we were hunting. Remember one cold, icy night when P.R. Lisenbee and the editor were out with the dogs possum hunting and we got lost right in that territory where we had been hundreds of times. We got Mrs. Snow up after midnight and she invited us in to get warm. She certainly got a good laugh out of our being lost in that territory. Among the survivors are two daughters, Mrs. O.P. Dell, of St. Louis and Mrs. Ruth Crocker, of Girard; two sons, Fred Snow, of McCune, and Vern Snow, of the home; five grandchildren and one great-grand child. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 tomorrow at the Christian church with Rev. Loyal Northcott of Girard officiating. Interment will be in the Cherokee cemetery.
