Description	:	Verna Masten, daughter of Samuel and Della Collins Masten was born May 1, 1893 near Mahaska, Kansas and passed away May 31, 1984 at the Blue Valley Home in Hebron, Nebraska at the age of 91 years and 30 days. She received her education in the Mahaska, Kansas and Reynolds, Nebraska Public Schools. As a very young girl she gave her heart to Jesus, later in life she joined the Hubbell Methodist Church, and later had her membership transferred to Chester, Ne. Read More	Verna Masten, daughter of Samuel and Della Collins Masten was born May 1, 1893 near Mahaska, Kansas and passed away May 31, 1984 at the Blue Valley Home in Hebron, Nebraska at the age of 91 years and 30 days. She received her education in the Mahaska, Kansas and Reynolds, Nebraska Public Schools. As a very young girl she gave her heart to Jesus, later in life she joined the Hubbell Methodist Church, and later had her membership transferred to Chester, Ne. Verna made a home for her father after the death of her mother in 1920. Her father passed away in 1937, after that she made her home with her twin sister Viola and her brother-in-law, James Naysmith at Byron, Nebraska. In 1965 she moved to Chester, Nebraska with Viola and James where she lived until April 1972 when it became necessary for her to enter the Blue Valley Home in Hebron, Nebraska where she remained until her death. She spent her entire life always doing for others. When any of the family needed help, she always was available, and so willing to help. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, John Masten and David Masten, and a twin sister, Viola Naysmith. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Worley, Holyoke, Colo., and Mrs. Vina Handley, and her husband, Alvin, Belleville, Ks.; brother-in-law, James Naysmith, Chester, Ne.; one niece, Sylvia Huddleston, Holyoke, Colo.; one nephew, Paul Handley, Belleville, Ks.; other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church of Chester, Ne., Monday, June 4, 1984, at 10 o'clock A.M., conducted by the Reverend Jean Samuelson. Interment was made in Ida Cemetery.
